TikTok Introduces AI Tools for Video Editing and Content Creation

TikTok has launched AI tools, Smart Split for video editing and AI Outline for scripting, to enhance content creation on its platform. These features, alongside improved subscription revenue, aim to support creators.

During a recent event in the US, TikTok unveiled three innovative features aimed at enhancing content creation on the platform. These updates include an improvement in revenue sharing for creators with subscription offerings, alongside tools to assist in both the initial phases of video creation and the editing of lengthy videos into shorter segments.

The new feature, Smart Split, is an AI-driven tool that automates the transformation of longer videos into concise clips. Suitable for videos exceeding a minute, it is particularly handy for trimming down podcast recordings or day-long footage from wearable cameras. Users can select which parts they wish to convert, and Smart Split will manage the editing, from determining clip lengths to generating captions and reformatting content vertically. This feature is now accessible worldwide through TikTok's Studio Web management platform.

AI Outline serves as a pre-recording assistant, utilizing AI to craft video outlines based on prompts or trending topics. It suggests video titles, hashtags, hooks, and script ideas that creators can then modify to suit their unique style. However, unlike Smart Split, the rollout of AI Outline is more restricted. Starting today, it will be available only to creators over 18 in the US, Canada, and certain other regions, with plans for broader access in the upcoming weeks.

For TikTok creators offering subscription-based perks such as exclusive content, there is a financial incentive. They currently earn 70% of revenue after fees, but meeting specific criteria—such as having over 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in the past month, and at least three subscriber-only videos—can increase their revenue share to as much as 90%.
